Know Thy Star - II

Here, I write about two girls .Both of them played roles that were of 6- 12 years of age when I used to watch them on TV.  I was the same age.

Jodie Sweetin and Tiffany Brissette.
Stephanie Tanner
Or popularly known as Stephanie Tanner (Full House) and VICI the robot (Small Wonder).

No, I didn't hero worship them.
But, they seemed to be the cool icons for my age.

After many years, there's a re run of Full House on Zee Cafe` . This made me Google about these two young stars to find out wassup with them these days.

Realisation dawned upon me that they have grown up! Like me, they too have changed. Unlike me, they are in their 30's.

Know thy star was to help me know about people I watch and cool stuff they're upto.

But, in this case, I decided it would be better for me to know them as their characters and not their real selves. Not because Jodie (who was once a smart kid Stephanie) is now a mother or Tiffany (once an affable robot who could shower out tears and flip through pages of a book in seconds and tell each and every line out of it) is now a former actress and currently a nurse.

Because, they form a part of memory which is still child like.
I actually remember myself playing a computer in a small act-play competition in class V and speaking out my dialogues the way VICI used to say. Oh, I won first prize for that one. So, its one happy memory. :)

Is it necessary to know the real person who is so different from what you have always known him/her to be?

You can count on me

Count On Me

- Bruno Mars

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I'll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see,
I'll be the light to guide you

Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
yeah Yeah

If you toss and you turn and you just can't fall asleep
I'll sing a song
beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will
remind you

Ohh
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
You'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
Yeah Yeah

You'll always have my shoulder when you cry
I'll never let go
Never say goodbye

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
You'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
you can count on me cos' I can count on you

Lyrical joy

As pure as a child's laughter and as innocent as the child itself!
Thank You Shiksha for asking me to listen to this one. Haven't heard it or seen its video as yet, but the lyrics brought me Happyness .Indeed, its kind of my taste.

A song can offer us many joys. Lyrical joy. Musical joy. Visual joy.
Good lyrics get inside your head and stay on your tongue. A singer's baritone or the instrumental nicety of a song or both together make you croon the song all the time. Visual joy is well, to each his own!

Coat Of Many Colors
by Dolly Parton

Back through the years
I go wonderin once again
Back to the seasons of my youth
I recall a box of rags that someone gave us
And how my momma put the rags to use
There were rags of many colors
Every piece was small
And I didn't have a coat
And it was way down in the fall
Momma sewed the rags together
Sewin every piece with love
She made my coat of many colors
That I was so proud of
As she sewed, she told a story
From the bible, she had read
About a coat of many colors
Joseph wore and then she said
Perhaps this coat will bring you
Good luck and happiness
And I just couldnt wait to wear it
And momma blessed it with a kiss
Chorus:

My coat of many colors
That my momma made for me
Made only from rags
But I wore it so proudly
Although we had no money
I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

So with patches on my britches
Holes in both my shoes
In my coat of many colors
I hurried off to school
Just to find the others laughing
And making fun of me
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

And oh I couldnt understand it
For I felt I was rich
And I told them of the love
My momma sewed in every stitch
And I told em all the story
Momma told me while she sewed
And how my coat of many colors
Was worth more than all their clothes

But they didn't understand it
And I tried to make them see
That one is only poor
Only if they choose to be
Now I know we had no money
But I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

Lalu sir

Well, what can I say? Sparsh brings us closer to some seniors who till then didn't exist for you, and then are omnipresent thereafter. Last year met some crazy lot, but this time it was Lalu.

Tall guy he is. For me, most of them are tall, anyway.

He apparently is quite talented. Sings. Dances. Makes music. Acts as well.

Promised us  a dinner we never got. But I did get many tags.

  • Firstly that I crack very creative Pjs.
  • Next that I'm a true blue Delhi di kudi..... mu-phat types ( frank that is).
  • Then that I'm a mic person, stage and I are made for each other. That I should have definitely anchored our cultural fest.
  • Worked till 4am for this event :)
  • Also, unlike other girls, I'm seen drinking tea at the galla.

I was supposed to give Sir a wake up call at 6am, then 6.30am and then 7am finally.
But since I myself managed to go to bed at 4am, next day I met him at 10am, trying not to yawn and he stares wildly into my face.

I got hurt during our event , after which he jokingly told everyone that Vinti has broken her leg, something that she has already complained of for some 20 times.

Haha, I did manage to throw the ball as far away
as possible during practice sessions :P

Sir asked me once if I had a monkey stuffed toy. I told him I don't play with toys! He said that girls do get animal toys as presents. And I told him presents come from our admirers and you guys gift teddy bears to girls, not monkeys!

Last he ordered that we meet after exams, which we couldn't.

So, I decided to bid adieus to you Sir, this way. Hope when you come back for convocation, dinner finally happens.  Wish you luck!

Drunkard in backyard ~~~~ Blackout in between

These final exams brought along with nervous nights, two crazy crazy incidents.

April 30,2012

As I was splashing water on my sleepy face, thinking of Negative Feedback Amplifier and DC Chopper circuits , a guy peeked inside our washroom. I was shocked! He disappeared that very second and I tried to ignore this apparition . Walking out of that glum washroom and marching towards my notes (on my bed, in my room), I again saw that creep drinking water from our common tap.
Heck!
I indignantly told my room-mate about this labor-class looking guy inside the girls' hostel, and angrily wondered  why such people have to work around us at night. She too got irritated, as much with her Structural Analysis as with the absence of the hostel supervisor when such people work in our hostel.
We crammed our notes.....it was night tea time now.
Meenam, my roomie's classmate walked towards us, expressing happily that she hadn't studied anything till now. We too echoed the same. (Every one does that, although we all know very well that we all study!!!)
She again came back, this time probably to ask the syllabus.
Meenam (in her foreign accent): "Did you hear the bathroom incident? Didn't you hear the bathroom incident??"
Me: " No, tell us!" ( Like every other girl , gossip gives me kicks :D , even during exam time)
Meenam (chirpily): " There was this guy inside the first floor's washroom!! One of the girls went there , but was shocked to find him there. He said he was a cleaner and asked her to come later. She ran away, totally scared. Again she went, again he made her run away. Later, another girl went there and as she came out, that psycho was staring into her face!!!!"
Anushruti (runs towards us to add some more fodder to this).
Meenam (continues, now in high spirits and even thicker  accent):  "That guy starts pretending to clean the bottom of wash basins , with a dry broom (oh yeah!) and girls yell and call the supervisor. She hurriedly rushes to the washroom, screams who's there, a girl's voice replies. Silly madam believed that. Huh! We girls crowed and shouted, then ma'm knocked hard on the door, he finally came out! Our warden soon came here, and grabbed that guy away by pulling his collar."
Priya and I can't stop rolling with laughter. (We are idiots, we should be scared of such breach of security.)
Anushruti: "He was a drunk ! He's handed over to the police....."
Well, every guy's dream is to get somewhere near our hostel and this 16 something, drunk , labor looking man walks in and spends a hell of time on two different floors of our hostel......

May 1,2012

It would be my favorite Principles Of Communication exam the next day . So I slept the whole afternoon, and woke up at around 7pm .  Priya went to the library to teach Sunny something, so in my solitary confinement ,        I tuned in the radio. 7.30 pm and Priya yells from downstairs: "Hungry?"
I say yes, and run towards the mess, thinking I'll eat quickly and finally open the books. We eat a little and electricity is gone. Power Cut!
We can hear groans of girls from all over the hostel, obviously since we all cram energetically a night before exam.
We hope light would come back soon as it always does.( That's a good thing about Gujarat) In the mean time the mess girls have stopped cooking, saying they can't cook while they can't see. We too can't study . So we wait.
We wait.
And wait...... they do cook for us, under the emergency light. We have eaten and still can't study. So since electricity is not there and its way too hot, me and Priya run downstairs to grab an ice-cream and this is what we see: Meenam, Ranjita , Snigdha and Somya are studying under the street light.

Snigdha and I try to recollect who that famous guy was who used to study under street light....??!!??

Was it Edison?

The Reason

Its The Reason- by Hoobastank. Enjoy.
